This
is a picture from the Hasenheide, a rather rough park in Berlin
between Kreuzberg, Neukoelln and the Tempelhof airport. I used
to live close to this park for quite some years, and its wasted
aspect inspired me again and again - a bit like a desert. This
picture is a bit of an idealisation of this place. |

This
is also a place in Berlin, but a place that underwent extreme
changes caused by the fall of the wall. Here it is in an interim
diary state. It is situated on a semi-detached island on the Spree
river. Before, I liked it very much, it was a completely empty
area of an abandoned industrial Port - the sense of free space
- to breathe. The building which you can see still here is a storage
at the banks of a bay of the Spree . But now you cannot recognise
anything any more, it is completely packed with apartment houses
for well-off people. The last time I was on the island, I didn't
find it, somehow it seems completely to have lost it's existance.
